Building Sustainability at 36 Leadenhall
When the landlords of 36 Leadenhall reached out to Buildgen, their goal was clear: they wanted to elevate the building's EPC rating from an E to a high B. The challenge was significant, but the team at Buildgen was ready to make it happen.
The project kicked off with the removal of the outdated roof-mounted chiller plant, a key step in improving the building’s energy efficiency. In its place, we installed new condensers and an Air Handling Unit (AHU), forming the backbone of a state-of-the-art VRF system that would enhance comfort while reducing energy consumption.
We upgraded the building’s lighting with new, energy-efficient fixtures, reducing its overall energy footprint while brightening every floor. Across nine floors, we also added a bike store, improved shower and toilet facilities, and refurbished the lifts and staircases to modern standards.
Working around two existing tenants, we ensured minimal disruption and smoothly relocated them to newly upgraded office spaces. The result is a sustainable, tenant-friendly building with modern design and cutting-edge technology, and we're proud to have been part of its transformation.
